Teaching and Learning

Exploring people, places and the past

At Alawa Primary, we make learning about the world exciting and meaningful. Through an Inquiry approach, students explore big questions, think critically, and develop creativity -skills that will help them thrive in a fast-changing, global world.

HASS covers subjects like History and Geography, and from Year 3 we add Civics and Citizenship. From Year 5, students also learn about Economics and Business. These areas help children understand how people live, work, and interact in different social, cultural, and environmental settings.

Students gain the knowledge and confidence to understand global issues and become active, informed citizens who can make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
