The Inquiry Approach
At Alawa Primary School, our Inquiry Approach places students at the centre of their learning. It is designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking and creativity, preparing them for success in an ever-changing, global and digital world.
Through inquiry, students are encouraged to question, predict, investigate and reflect as they explore real-world concepts and ideas. Learning begins with curiosity — students identify questions, gather and analyse information, and make connections to their own experiences and understanding.
Teachers guide and scaffold each stage of the process, supporting students to think deeply, collaborate and take meaningful action.
- Our Inquiry Model follows five key stages:
Tuning In, Finding Out, Sorting Out, Reflecting and Acting, and Evaluating. - These stages help students develop confidence as independent learners and deepen their understanding of how the world works.
