Sporting Schools Program
Alawa Primary School is proud to be registered with
Sporting Schools, an Australian Government initiative that gives students access to a wide range of sports-based activities during and after school.
The program aims to:
- Engage students in structured physical activity
- Provide positive and fun experiences in sport
- Encourage children to join local sporting clubs
- Build a lifelong love of physical activity
Through Sporting Schools, our students enjoy a variety of activities such as athletics, table tennis, baseball, hockey, cricket, soccer and more.

Our Aims
As part of the
Casuarina Education Precinct, Alawa students participate in a combined sports program designed to give every child opportunities to get active, build skills and connect with peers from other schools.
Interschool Sport
- For
Years 4–6
- Two teams per sport are selected each week to take part in a
round robin competition against other schools in the hub
- Teams rotate weekly over four weeks, giving more students a chance to participate
- In Week 5 a group of students attend a
Gala Day, competing in one of the sports
Intraschool Sport
- For Years 3–6
- Held within the school to encourage participation, skill-building, and teamwork
- Aligned with
School Sport NT Pathways wherever possible, in collaboration with School Sports Coordinators

Through school sport, Alawa Primary School aims to:
Increase student participation in physical activity
Raise skill levels and physical competency
Promote fun, teamwork and positive experiences
Build strong foundations for a healthy, active life
