About
Working Together with our Community
At Alawa Primary School, we believe strong partnerships create stronger learning opportunities. By working closely with families, organisations and the wider community, we provide our students with rich, engaging experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Partnerships

Speech & Occupational Therapy
Each year we host Speech and Occupational Therapy students on final placement for 6–8 weeks. During this time, our students benefit from access to additional intensive therapy support.
Nemarluk School
Alawa and Nemarluk work together through various programs. Students from both schools join in team sports, while staff collaborate professionally and share facilities and resources.
Charles Darwin University (CDU)
As a teaching school, we work in partnership with CDU to support university students completing their teacher education and social worker placements.
Department of Defence
We are proud to have a Defence School Mentor (DSM), funded through the Department of Defence. The DSM provides targeted support to Defence students and their families as they settle into our school community.
Casuarina Education Precinct
Alawa Primary School is proud to be a member of the Casuarina Education Precinct (CEP) — a collaboration of nine schools in our local area working together to strengthen public education across all stages of learning.

Through the Precinct, schools share expertise, resources, and professional learning opportunities to ensure every child is supported to achieve their personal best.

Our Shared Values
The work of the Casuarina Education Precinct is guided by four key values:
Inclusion – Building an inclusive education system that supports the learning and development of every student in our community.
Excellence –
Striving for the highest standards in education, community involvement and lifelong learning.
Belonging – Fostering strong relationships that create a sense of ownership and connection to our schools and precinct.
Pride –
Celebrating the self-esteem and confidence that comes from individual and collective achievement.
Together, these values underpin our shared goal: to promote excellence in public education and ensure students thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Happy Schools Program

Support Staff Wellbeing
At Alawa, we know that staff wellbeing is key to student success. When teachers and support staff feel valued, supported and positive, everyone benefits — students, families and the wider school community.
We are proud members of the
Happy Schools Program. Each week our staff receive a one-page article, written by experts in education and wellbeing.
These resources provide:
- Practical strategies for reducing stress
- Tips to cope with change
- Guidance on working effectively with others
- Ideas for engaging students
By investing in the wellbeing of our staff, we ensure our school remains a place where learning, relationships and positive outcomes thrive.
