Social and Emotional Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

Supporting the Whole Child

At Alawa Primary School, we believe education is about more than academics — it’s about nurturing the whole child. We place strong importance on helping students build the attitudes, behaviours and skills they need to thrive at school and in life.

Zones of Regulation

Used from Preschool to Year 3, this program helps students:

  • Identify and label their feelings
  • Understand how behaviour affects others
  • Use a shared “common language” to talk about levels of alertness
  • Practise tools and strategies to manage emotions and behaviours

Other Programs

We also draw on a range of resources to support wellbeing, including:

  • Big Life Journal – growth mindset and resilience activities
  • Bounce Back Education – positive thinking and coping skills
  • Past initiatives such as KidsMatter, which continue to inform our approach
